Researcher Introduction
My name is Rochelle Ade and I am a PhD Candidate in the University of Auckland Business School’s Department of Property. I am also currently an accredited Homestar Assessor with Building Excellence Group. My supervisor is Dr Michael Rehm.
Purpose of the Research
The research is being undertaken by University of Auckland student Rochelle Ade, for her dissertation, for the Property department of the University of Auckland Business School. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether Homestar performs in accordance with its environmental design aims.
Project Procedures
The project will consist of:
1) Completing a short questionnaire providing some details on your house;
2) Providing your energy and water bills for the last year; and
3) Hosting a small temperature and humidity data logging device in your home for a period of 12 months.
Anonymity and Confidentiality
All information that you provide will be reported or published in a way that does not identify you as its source, either by name or innuendo. All results will appear in a generalised form.
Disclosure of potential conflict of interest
Rochelle Ade is an accredited Homestar Assessor and is affiliated with the consultancy firm Building Excellence Group (BXG) and the not-for-profit New Zealand Green Building Council.
Data storage/retention/ destruction/ future use
The recorded data, including computer files, will be owned by the researcher and will be kept for a period of 6 years and then be destroyed by deleting file/tapes. Benefits A PDF summary of the resulting PhD thesis will be made available to participants of the study if requested.
Right to Withdraw from Participation
You have the right to withdraw from the research study without giving a reason. You can withdraw your questionnaire data within two weeks of submitting your online questionnaire. In addition you can withdraw from the temperature and humidity data logging portion of the study at any time during the 12-months whilst you host the provided data logging device. To withdraw from the research study simply contact the researcher, Rochelle Ade, and indicate your intention to withdraw.
